When i log on I get a message stating that "nwiz.exe has
encountered aproblem and needs to close." I am asked if I
want to report it to microsoft and I've said yes three
times. I've not heard back from microsoft as to what the
problem is or how to fix it. Any ideas ?

I will bet that you have an nvidia graphics card.
Go to msconfig StartUp tab... you will probably see nwiz.exe
there. Uncheck it and see if problem goes away.

Click START|RUN and type "msconfig" (no quotes) <enter>
Click the Start Up tab...and if NWiz is listed, UNcheck it

Next boot there will be a warning prompt. Check its box.

You've received excellent advice so far, but in case you use the NVidia
Wizard for something..

Go to:

http://www.nvidia.com/

and Download the latest driver for your Graphics Card. Likely a GeForce
based card. They just recently released a new driver (days ago) and if you
download and install it, your problem will likely go away and you will
probably have some nice new features to play with.

I believe this has to do with an Nvidia control panel applet. You don't
need it. Go to Start>Run and type "msconfig". Look on the Startup tab
and find Nwiz and uncheck the box next to it. Click Apply and OK out.

In addition to the answers given, note that microsoft does not reply
when you send in this info. It's for their use.
