numeric keypad

I cannot get my numeric keypad to work not MATTER WHAT I TRY!!!!!! I thought
that the keyboard that came with my computer was bad so I bought the MS
Natural Elite and still no numeric keypad. I do alot of numeric data entery
and really need for it to work. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!
 
Is the numlock on?
