Is there an easy way to convert a "number" to a date in Excel. What I mean
is, if a user has typed in "2000" and they've meant it as the YEAR 2000, but
Excel sees it as a number, is there a way to make it be the YEAR 2000
instead of 6/22/1905?

We're referencing a column of these numbers somewhere else in the
spreadsheet and we're hoping to not have to re-type them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Excel dates default as number of days after Jan 0 1900, 2000 days after that
date is 06/22/1905. The only way (without VBA) for excel to recognize a date
is to use a date delimiter like mm/dd/yy (using US date format or dd-mm-yy
using European date format). Let me ask you, what do you expect to see when
you enter 2000, if you expect 2000 just format the cell as general and do not
use date format. If you expect a date which date?

Doreen,

What are you doing when you are * referencing a column of these numbers
somewhere else in the spreadsheet *?

The problem with this solution is not ALL the cells have the date as a year,
so if I format those as number, I'll get the serial number. Thanks though!
