I have tab separated ASCII-file: <name>.xls. When I open it every thing
looks fine. The date-formatting is OK. The numberformatting of amounts is
OK. If the amount is over 999.99 it is. When the amount is below, fx. 345.00
(Which is the content in the ASCII-file) Excel display 345. If it was 345.50
Excel would display it OK. This goes for a number of combinations of both
OS-Versions and Excel-versions. I have tried it on NT4+ Excel 97,
W2k+Excel2k and WinXP+Excel2k.
Both OS and Excel are Danish.

It sounds as if you have the cell format as GENERAL, did
you trying change it to the NUMBER format with 2 decimal
places?

Thank you, Charlie. But it does not explain the funny formatting for whole
amounts below 1000.
