The number of Temporary Internet Files is expanding out
of control on my computer with Windows XP. Since I
started using the computer 10 months ago, the folder
Temporary Internet Files has now expanded to 2,3 GB
containing 115.000 files and 12 folders.

It's a big problem as the enormous number of files slows
down my computer, especially the weekly virus scan.

I don't seem to be able to delete the files, and even if
I use the CCleaner program, the files are still there
even though the folder looks empty in the Explorer.

What can I do?

I would be very happy if somebody could give me an advice.

Hi

Try lowering the disk space available for the TIF folder. With Internet
Explorer open, go to Tools>Internet Options. On the General tab, click
'Settings...'. Adjust the amount under 'Amount of disk space to use'. I
have mine set to 50 MBs, which I find is plenty enough.

Also on the General tab click on 'Delete files>Delete all offline content'.

Also - if you wish - you can have IE empty all TIFS on
closure of IE...

IE Options - Advanced Tab - Security Section - 'Empty
Tifs...'
