Is there a limit to the number of top level folders in a partition?
Any limits on the construction of folder/file hierarchies?
TIA

Not directly. The limit is on entries in a folder. "Entries"
refers to the sum of both files and folders, and it is not simply
their sum, because files and folders with long file names use
multiple entries.

The limit, on FAT32 volumes is 64K entries. The NTFS limit is
*way* more than you could possibly get on a any drive these
days--for all practical purposes (at least in 2005), it's
unlimited.
