Fortunately, yes.

That's about 4 times as many as you could ever need for a correctly
normalized data design.
 
allen i dont agree with that.

there are perfectly legitimate reasons to have hundreds of columns.

nothing is proper and throw your theory out the window. it was all
written by a bunch of old stodgy ibm folk anyways

I am sure there are. I have never seen an example. I have seen many
examples of poor design with far fewer fields. (we call them fields now)

nothing is ever properly normalized

and having a useable database; and a proper database are 2 totally
opposite things

Thanks, I have not been called a kid in 30 years, and that was only
because there were older people on the job.
