NTVDM Problem?

I have a rather old legacy application that I still need to run
on occasion. It ran fine after installing XP. It ran fine after
installing SP2. However, sometime over the last several
months something seems to have changed. It now won't start.
I get the error message window showing problems with
NTVDM. This makes sense in that this application is an old
16 bit one, so it will need the virtual DOS machine to run.
What puzzles me is that it used to run and now doesn't.
Does anyone know if there have been any changes with
any recent security updates to XP that may have involved
something that could cause something like this?
