Hello,

I'm running an W2K Pro SP4 box and getting the following
error message upon startup. Please assist. Thank you.

16 BIT MS-DOS PROGRAM
C:\DOCUMEN~1\ROBB\WIN.EXE
THE NTVDM.CPU HAS ENCOUNTERED AN ILLEGAL INSTRUCTION.

Sounds to me like it's an old DOS program that expects to
handle hardware directly. That's a no-no in NT-class
systems. The "DOS" subsystem in W2k is not a real DOS but
a simulator, and will reject such attempts. That's one
of the reasons W2k is so stable.
