keep them. That are the uninstall for Windows XP Hotfixes. If you should
have a problem with them you will need to be able to uninstall them.

For each 'hotfix' etc. there's a folder like that created that enables you
to uninstall hotfixes.

NOTICE that in Add/Remove Programs each hotfix is listed. To use Add/Remove
Programs to remove the hotfix you have to leave the hotfix folder on the
harddrive. Removing the folders will frig up Add/Remove Programs to a small
degree. When and if the next Service Pack 2 comes out they may be folded
into the service pack, disappear, and you will start working on a new set.

So yes, it is 'safe' to remove them in that your system will continue to run
**BUT** you will be interfering with Add/Remove Programs.

So don't worry about them and just leave them.

You will see that each of these is followed by either a Q or KB number. This
corresponds to a hotfix you installed from the Windows Update Site. the
folder contains the backup files need to uninstall that particular hotfix
through Add and Remove Programs. If you are certain that you do not want to
roll back you can safely delete the folder. However the entry will still
appear in Add and Remove Programs. But once the folder is deleted you can
then open Add and Remove Programs, select the corresponding Q or KB number
and click the Remove button. This will generate an error and the entry will
disappear from the Add and Remove Programs list.

If you do not remove the folder before clicking the Remove button the hotfix
will be uninstalled and you will revert back to an unpatched state.

And, Nick, if you decide you want to remove them, and the entries in
Add/Remove Programs, as well, see www.dougknox.com, Win XP Utilities, Remove
Hotfix Backup Files for an automated utility that will do this for you.
