I keep getting a pop up that this programme (ntosknl.exe) is trying to
connect to the internet, many times an hour.
Is this a problem I should investigate further, apart from anything else the
pop up is annoying. I have clicked on `dont show this message again` but it
still pops up.

advice would be appreciated.
thanks

sometimes a malicious program will load a file
that appears to be officially from microsoft.com
but is not.

the one you mention is mispelled so it
would then be a non microsoft system
file.

but here is some additional information about
windows from the experts...

http://search.microsoft.com/results.aspx?q=ntoskrnl.exe&mkt=en-US&x=12&y=12&FORM=SSME

if you have malware, then take the appropriate
action to clean your system.

if it is not, then follow the guidelines above
or let us know if you have a followup question
after your review of the information....

ps:

i think your firewall is working pretty good
since you are being notified the file is being blocked...

don't unblock your firewall until you understand
the file you mentioned...

a pop up blocker
probably kicked in,
if it was somekind of
a malware.

double check your
processes inside of
task manager (ctrl alt del)
and see if it is active and
loaded.

remember that what makes
the file name you mentioned
different from the official
system file is 1 letter.

if that bad file is loaded,
then you can kill the process.

if it is a bad process, then
additional steps can be taken
to find out which program has
installed it and what is activating it......
