Have received message from laptop (instead of booting)
that says that "ntoskrnl.exe" was missing or corrupted
and that I needed to reload it.

I have a HP laptop - Athlon 4 -XP Home - purchased in Nov
2001.

Problem is that the only way to reload it seems to make
me re-format my whole disk using the HP provided Restore
disk.

Does anyone know af a way I can boot into my
machine and simply copy the bad files over???

Thanks

Here is an article which provides a way to create setup
boot disks. This shoud allow you into the system to make
changes and/or copy files. Choose the appropriate bot disk
set from the list. If you have SP! installed or ahve a cd
which sasy SP1 on it then download the SP1 version of the
setup boot disks. Once you download teh file creatd teh
boot disk set and then post when you are ready.
