Hi,
I have just put a computer together using a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP
motherboard, an Asus Ti 200 Graphics Card and two hard drives one of which I
have left unconnected to ensure that the Windows XP Pro OS is installed on
the connected Drive. Both drives have been formatted. Going into the BIOS,
everything that should be there is displayed. The computer starts up OK and
starts going through its routine until it tells me it is searching for the
floppy ( the 1st diskette of six) and then I get a message "NTLDR is
missing" press Control + Alt + Delete to restart. Can you please tell me how
I can reinstate the NT Loader back onto the computer. I get the same result
if I try booting from the XP Pro CD.

Best Regards,
Jarralad

The NT Bootloader has been either corrupted, damaged, infected with virr,
hard disk setup in correctly in bios, misconfig of boot.ini file.. and I can
go on..

1.) Boot from your Windows XP CD and select the Repair option "R", once
there select Recovery Console.
2.) Once you are in the Recovery Console it is a CMD line driven interface
such as DOS. You can either use the help cmd, or you can use this cmd to fix
your bootiong problem :"FIXBOOT"

Altern..

Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer.
When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key.
Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows.
Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing
enter.
You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that
password.
Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In
the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter
"E". This letter may be different on your computer.

copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\
copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\

Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from
the computer and reboot.

Hi

Try this:

Boot with your XP CD in the cd drive. Select 'To repair..' by pressing 'R'.
When in the Recovery Console type the following:

"copy X:\i386\ntldr C:\" - without the quotes.

Where X is the letter of your CD drive and C is the letter of your system
drive. Take the XP CD out of the cd drive and reboot into XP normally.

Sounds like a non-bootable floppy in the floppy drive with BIOS set to boot from
floppy first. When you "try to boot from the CD," are you setting the BIOS to
boot from CD first? Regardless of whether your hard drive has been corrupted,
damaged, infected, etc., you shouldn't get this message if you are really booting
from a genuine WinXP CD.

Probably a diskette in the floppy drive. Remove it.
