Can anyone tell me what this means & how do i solve the prob

Check the ribbon to the Hard Drive...take it off at both ends, and reinsert.
Make sure the jumper is set correctly. That's all I can think of.

First make sure you don't have a disk in your floppy drive. Then, set the
boot order in the BIOS to CD Drive, Floppy Drive, then Hard Drive. Then,
boot to the Windows XP CD.

also make sure you don't have a floppy disk in the floop drive. that causes
it as well :)

Greetings --

Normally, and assuming a retail license (many OEM installations
and licenses are not transferable to a new motherboard - check yours
_before_ starting), unless the new motherboard is virtually identical
(same chipset, same IDE controllers, same BIOS version, etc.) to the
one on which the WinXP installation was originally performed, you'll
need to perform a repair (a.k.a. in-place upgrade) installation, at
the very least:

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade of Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=KB;EN-US;Q315341

As always when undertaking such a significant change, back up any
important data before starting.

This will also require re-activation, unless you have a Volume
Licensed version of WinXP Pro installed. If it's been more than 120
days since you last activated that specific Product Key, you'll most
likely be able to activate via the internet without problem. If it's
been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone call.

wont let me go to cd just says NTLDR is missing

You do not have to do a complete repair reinstall, usually.

Usually the boot screen will somehat quickly (and then it disappears) say
what key needs to be pressed to boot from a CD or to get into BIOS. Try
pressing the ESC key when the very 1st splash screen appears, and try the
Tab and Space Bar ones during the boot, individually per boot. F2 or F10
might work to get into BIOS, or the Delete key. You might have to go into
BIOS, during the boot, and tell it to boot to CD from there -- but that's
usually only necessary with really old PC's that used rather stupid brain
dead BIOS code. If you have more than one CD device, try the other one.

After you successfully boot to the CD ...

Boot to Recovery Console from CD.

Be at root of Drive C.

Type these (answer y to over-write if asked)

copy d:\i386\ntldr

copy d:\i386\ntdetect.com

(where drive d: is the drive your CD is in, else use the correct drive
letter)
System should boot now.
