I'm having some difficulty with a secondary (non-boot) NTFS drive. I'm
able to format, access and use (open copy & paste files into etc) in
Safe Mood. However under Normal Mood I cannot do anything with the
drive. When I try to access the device, which has one partition on it
through "My Computer" I consistently receive error messages. ("Drive
corrupt etc.") I recently wipe both my boot drive and secondary drive
(the one I'm having a problem with) and did a clean install of Windows
XP Pro SP2. In addition I have only installed drivers for my video card
(NVIDIA), NIC (marvel) and sound card (SoundMax). I've run out of MSFT
support freebies, so any help would be appreciated.

You can get more info on a drive by going to run, type:cmd In cmd
type:DiskPart In DiskPart type:list disk Type:list volume And/or:HELP

What type of drives are they? SATA, IDE, SCSI? How are they configured
hardware-wise? Do they show up correctly in BIOS setup?

Have you tested them with the manufacturer's diagnostics utility?

The drive is a SATA. The BIOS correctly sees the drive. I've tested the
drive several times with Western Digitals diagnostic tools. No errors
found. My boot drive is an eide with the jumper on cable select. If
there were errors with the drive why does it work in Safe Mode?

You've got a problem with device drivers (like MB chipset, IDE, SATA)
that don't load in Safe Mode.

SSteve-
Is there any application out there that can compare drivers that load
during safe mode and normal. Any suggestion on how I can narrow down
which device driver is giving me the problem. Thank
Tom
