ntdetect.com goes missing!

Has anyone had ntdetect.com go missing on them? The system in question
is SP1 patched to date, Ad-aware checked., spybot checked, and virus
checked.

There is the possibility of PEBKAC error, by why would anyone select
that file out of tens of thousands to delete at random?

Hi Cliff,

Because they didn't know any better. Simply copy a new copy from the I386
folder on the CD to the root of the system partition. If the system is
unbootable, this can also be done from the Recovery Console.

Yeah, thanks, I'd already done that. I was more interested at this
stage in possible causes.
