NT4's NTBackup doesn't work on Windows 2000 after Windows update?

Hi,

We have a setup where NT4's NTBackup.exe (and DLL friends) are used on
Win2K machines to backup files to tape. This setup is being used in
various sites.
One of the sites stopped performing daily backups recently, and when
we try double-clicking the NTBackup.exe file, nothing happens. If we
log in using another user, it works. Both users are in the Local
Administrators group. We suspect this started after a recent Windows
update.

Any ideas on how to diagnose or solve this?

Thanks,
Shachar.

Why are you using NT's ntbackup on a 2000 machine? 2000 has ntbackup.

There's a reason :)

That's because appending a tape set in W2K's backup is impossible
without manually feeding it all of the set.

Anyway - do you have an answer for this?

Rename the profile folder for the account that does not work.
This will force a new profile to be created.

You should also ensure that you don't have another ntbackup
job running in the background. You cannot have more than one
instance of this program at any one time.
