NT Authority (RPC) shuts down computer

I have reinstalled Windows XP on my laptop numerous times
while trying to swap out the hard drive. Finally got it
working again (what a mess) but now the computer shuts
down after about 5 minutes. The message I get
is "NT\AUTHORITY\SYSTEM Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
service terminated unexpectedly".

Any help would be appreciated.

Good lord, afetr spending over 2 days getting my computer
back up to speed, I guess I got the worm before
downloading all the Windows updates after the re-install
of XP I did... I don't know why my virus software missed
it though.
