is there a way to tell which CD you have on a computer. I have a few CD's
with the same OS on them and don't remember which is for which computer.
Using the 25 digit number is not doing me any good. Is there any suggestions
Thanks
JB

As long as the CD is the same type (retail, OEM, etc.) it doesn't matter. There is no way to tie a specific CD to a particular installation.

If it's retail then a keyfinder utility will help, if it OEM then at least
for some vendors the key code should be on the outside or inside of the case
cover.

to try to search the computer....to see if the computer can tell me the 25
digit number that was originally typed in for activation.

retail....
and I have 4 OS cd's with the jackets and 25 digit numbers....but like an
Ahole...I didn't make to which computer, which 25 digit goes to

So once I can track down the which 25 digit number is in which (mainly the
one I am reformatting and reinstalling everything) then I can get that key
and reuse it to that computer. Under the "My Computer" ...is gives a number
that is unfamiliar to me

OK.... I stated it wrong. Which key goes to which computer is what I meant

"Activation" resets after three or four months or so .. so the key becomes
reusable after that period . So as long as you remove the retail copy from
the old computer, you can install and activate legitmately on the new
computer.

If they are all the same version of Windows then it doesn't matter - the key
information is not held on the CD.
