novice to the network "Help"

I have just set up a home network, using the network wizard, the 2 pcs see
each other, but I cannot get online on 2nd pc, when i click on the E sign, it
loads but the green squares on the bottom of page showing loading staus seems
to take forever, and after a long time i get error page.cannot find page,
and yet when i enter my acivation key via internet it worked ! also the same
when i installed Office pro, it lets me go to the update website. how wierd
is this. any advice and help will be gratefully recieved. I Run xp pro on
both pcs, My isp is telewest broardband,

A few more details about your network might be helpful here. How do the 2
computers connect to the Internet, and to each other? What operating system are
either running? How are they configured for network access?

the 2 pcs are linked together with network cards and crossover cable, they
both have windows XP, and the maseter pc has a broadband modem which connects
to isp, via a seperate network card.

Derrick,

When you ran the Network Setup wizard (you did do that, right?), what options
did you use?

From the master, select Option 1 "This computer connects directly to the
Internet. The other computers on my network connect to the Internet through this
computer.". From the slave, select Option 2, "This computer connects to the
Internet through another computer on my network or through a residential
gateway.".

Please provide "ipconfig /all" from each computer, as a start. Read this
article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely:
