In earlier versions of Windows there was a program that I think was called
called 'Task Scheduler'
This had an option that would play or display a reminder message at a
specified time.
Is this, or something similar, in WindowsXP Pro?
 
XP still has Task Scheduler, but it's used for setting tasks (defrag, etc.)
to automatically run at specified times.

I've used a little app. called "Stickies", that works like a Post-It note
for your computer, and can be configured in many ways, and it's free. Would
something like that work? Details and download available here:
