Ever since I got a new ISP - Verizon- I fail to get notice of replies to
posts in my mailbox. This has been going on since March, 2005.
On the 24th of November I GOT ONE! in response to "Print file name list"
This is a test to see if that magic will repeat.
Please respond if only to say Hi.
Thanks

Am I missing something?

Why should you get any responses to a post from the web interface to a
mailbox when you don't give an email address?

Alan:
I am talking about the notice that should arrive in my mail box when
someone responds to my post or when someone responds to a post for which I
asked to be notified. My email address is obtained via Passport.

Yes you are missing something. These days, MS does not allow anybody to
post messages (questions or answers) via the web unless they login using
their passport usernames.

Same procedure applies to Google Groups via their web interface.

The problem with Google interface is that the email is made public while
MS does not make it public for security reasons and spam prevention.

Ahh...I don't (and won't) use the web interface and was unaware of
that facility.
Thanks for the explanation.

Hi - you might want to consider using a newsreader like Outlook Express or
Forte Agent rather than the web interface to the newsgroups - it's a lot
easier to do nearly everything there, including searching, which is always a
good idea to do before you post, as well as mark messages to be watched, and
filter based on replies to your posts.

The Microsoft public news server is msnews.microsoft.com and you can
subscribe to as many groups as you like.
