notify email voice

i have a new toshiba satellite notebook with outlook
2003. how do i turn off the ridiculous "you have mail"
voice? i've tried email options but that just turns off
the beep. i've also tried changing the system sound.
what else?
 
Control Panel->Sounds and Multimedia->Sounds tab->New Mail Notification. Change the sound file associated with this notification.

Thank you for your input. I had already tried that with
no effect. I did try again, but still have the
obnoxious "YOU"VE GOT MAIL" guy. Any ideas? Is this a
TOSHIBA thing?

Probably not but it could be a part of your mail program or mail program add-in. Check those options.

I had the same problem, and spent hours trying to fix it. "Micah" provided
what I think is the answer on another post. (At least it worked for me.)

This reading thing has to do with Office 2003 SP 1 ... in the [Outlook]
Tools menu the
SP added 4 options at the very bottom. One says "Reading options ..." and
that's where this voice thing is. The option is called "Inform Mail
Receiving" ... just uncheck it and that should shut that stupid voice up.
