G Guest Dec 12, 2005 #4 One additional comment. When I check the properties on the task bar, the lower area where you can indicate to hide the inactive icons is grey the only thing dark is "show the clock".

Troubleshooting Windows XP, Tweaks and Fixes for Windows XP If it is not a live link for you, copy it and paste it in the Address bar of Internet Explorer and click Go. Once you are at http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm scroll down to 290 and click on Hide Inactive Icons - Greyed Out enableautotray.reg is the file you need to download. Clicking on Hide Inactive Icons - Greyed Out starts the download process. Download enableautotray.reg somewhere where you can find it again, like your Desktop.
