notification

My old outlook program notified me everytime I rec'd a new message with
"music", but the new program does not. Is there a way that I can set up the
new program to do this? The new program only shows new e-mails when I hit
the send/receive mail icon. I need e-mails as soon as they are rec'd for
several reasons. I am pretty new to the computer and need help with this.
Thanks so much!
 
Did you have any Rules Wizard (on the Tools menu) rules setup before? Also,
to be sure, what version of Outlook were you using previously?
