Last week I had a network working perfectly between 2 computers both on
Windows XP Pro using a corossover cable and also had ICS working. Then it
seems either the host computer refused to give the internet to the other
computer or the other wouldn't take it, I have no idea. I tried uninstalling
Norton Internet Security 2005 from both systems and there's no change.

This is my ipconfig for my Ethernet:

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : VIA PCI 10/100Mb Fast Eth
er
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-30-18-FF-FF-FF
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 169.254.94.61
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : 08 January 2006 03:23:37
Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : 19 January 2038 03:14:07

I know for a fact that DHCP isn't working because of the IP and Windows is
telling me it's an Automatic Private Address. I can't view workgroup and I
can't use internet on the client. I've been searching the net for a solution
for hours. Could anyone help please? Thanks

Did you un install NIS thoroughly? NIS (NAV / NPF) each contain components that
don't always un install easily - you have to follow instructions!

One of the most common causes of this problem would be a misconfigured or
overlooked personal firewall, but there are other possibilities too.

In your case, you may need to check for LSP / Winsock corruption. This is not a
simple procedure - there are 6 or 7 known solutions and not one of them is any
better in all cases. Be patient and persistent.
