Thanks

How about three? ;)

The 2006 Pricelessware text editor picks are on this web page:

The "notepad replacements" apps are:
MetaPad
NoteTab Light
EditPad Lite

Notepad2. Just as light as the original one, but better by
magnitudes.

Yeah; like the other person said...

Notepad2; don't leave home/start-up your default text-app without it.

PSPad. Been using it mostly for coding but works really well for txt
files too.

??? PSPad *IS* a PL2006 pick. . . see the web page. . .

My favorite for speed and small footprint is "Metapad".

For a little more power and a cool trash filter is "BDV Notepad".

The best You'll be able to find is IMNSHO notepad++. Just google for it and
You'll be amazed!

Assuming you want something small and fast, but with more features:
Metapad (my choice)
Win32pad
If not:
Programmer's editor: PSPad
Something between those two categories: Xint

All are easily found with your favourite search engine.

The reasons EditPadLite suit me are:

1: Tabbed browsing.
2: Live hyperlinks.
3: Use it for all my typing, copy / pasting & printing, don't need any
other program.

I really like Notepad++
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm

It does tabs so you have multiple text files open in the one window,
something that is a must for me at work just as firefox is.

It also does reg expression searching, syntax highlighting,
rectangle/block/column select.

The user interfacer is simple, it remembers all of your previous open
documents when you start up and thus has them open in tabs waiting for
you start working.

It is constantly updated, so new functionality and bugs are fixed quickly.

I used EditPad Lite ages ago and back then it didn't have as many
features as notepad plus, but maybe that has changed.

I downloaded the latest version Jast, but have'nt been able to make the
hyperlinks live, have you?
Thanks, John.

Hmmn, couldn't see how to do that either. Maybe this is a feature that
it doesn't do yet? :(

Or maybe there is a plug in that will do it?
