just wondering if anyone has any opnions on the compaq presario notebooks. specifically the 900 series. it uses an amd chip which is what i use for my desktop pc but amd is notorious for running hot. in a desktop, that is not a big deal, just use a good cooling fan, etc. but for a notebook i'm not too sure. how are the amd chips in notebooks and are they more likely to crash when running for long periods of time?

You don't have to worry too much, it's well cooled. :brow:

ComCrap made sure of that ...

I'd reccomend against going with a Compaq because I really dislike their products, but there's nothing wrong with going with a processor that has an AMD mobile processor.

Comcrap Presario

I use to have a Presario about two years back before I replaced it with the IBM T21. It worked fine and was more than reliable, never gave me problems as such. It had the AMD chip, if I remember it correctly an AMD K6-2 433 Mhz. It never bothered me as far as heat was concerned as it had two tiny fans at the back which took care of it.

These are value for money machines to get the job done. Hope it helps.

Quad has a point ... and

On reflection ... Comcrap make reasonable hard working Laptop/notebooks ...
