Unless your machine is in either a locked room to which you only have
access, and/or does NOT connect to the internet, then you should think VERY
seriously about the security implications of NOT "logging on".

Sounds like you (or someone) installed ASP.net components from Windows
Update which creates another user account for its use. Since there is now
more than one user account you don't automatically log in.

HMMMM

I did see that as another person or thing to log in....maybe if a threaten
him...he will leave :o)

Thanks

You installed one of the .net framework versions, which created a new
asp.net user. That's normal, and nothing to worry about.

"Correct" isn't really the right word, but if you want to logon
automatically,go to Start | Run, and type "control userpasswords2" Select
the account you want to logon to automatically. Then uncheck the box "Users
must enter a user name and password to use this computer."

Or do the same thing with TweakUI.

Return to the windows update site and do a manual scan for updates. If
there are any updates for the .Net framework that was recently installed and
which caused this change in your system in the first place then install
them. That might correct the auto login. If not it's easy to reset.

1. Go to Start | Run and type in: control userpasswords2 | Ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

You can accomplish the same thing by:

Download and install tweakui for xp and use its auto logon feature.

Lastly you can add the Dialog box that comes up when running control
userpasswords 2 to the Control Panel with the following tweak:

Add Control User Passwords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

How many accounts do you have set up? Do you have the Guest account
disabled?

Sorry...the same thing happened to me a while back and I can't figure
out how I fixed it. I'll keep looking though.

Good luck!

See my post to the OP. The resolution is simple. FYI you should quote at
least a part of the message to which you reply. Otherwise there is no
context. Many folks use a newsreader and only download the recent messages,
so they might not see the previous messages in a thread.
