not updating

My Windows Defender will not update. I do have a valid copy of windows and it
seems that I have all the Windows updates as I checked for new ones during my
trouble shooting the defender issue.
 
The simplest approach is to uninstall Windows Defender under add/remove
programs and re-install assuming you are using Windows XP (never uninstall WD
under Vista).
