We are testing Windows Server 2003 and only have one user logging in from a
different city via VPN from a Windows 2000 PC.
They have been logging in successfully to the Terminal Server using the
Server name for weeks. Yesterday they received a message that the Terminal
Server couldn't be found. Eventually I changed the connection to the IP
address of the server rather than the name and the connection worked.
Is this common or a one-off problem?

It is a common problem, and it is invariably caused by
inappropriate DNS settings on your workstations. If
you provide full details then someone may be able to
help you.
