When in the command prompt under Windows XP. I'm
recieving the error message:
Not ready reading drive E
Abort, Retry, Fail?
when I do the following steps:
1) net use r: \\<computer name>\c
2) r:
3) cd\<directory>
4) \<another directory>\file.exe
in my situation I'm running a file that has been written
in quick basic, and reads information from other files on
a networked computer (this being the same computer
the .exe file is located on). I don't seem to get this
problem on any other computer in my network. (Which are
all running factory installed copies of windows XP home
ed.) I have already installed all of the windows updates
and still recieve this error. I'm looking either for a
way to reinstall windows updates. Or a manual fix for
this problem. I only recieve this problem when I run a
file that is located in another directory while in
another directory. But not when I run a file that is
located in another directory while I am on the root
directory. I do not know if this matters either but the
factory computer is a Sony Vaio and is the only one
giving me the problem. Any information either about dos
configuation files, reinstalling windows updates, or a
specific fix would be much appretiated
