Not getting new mail notification

Hi,

I'm using Outlook 2003/Win XP. I've got two email accounts set up; my MSN
account and my Hotmail account. When mail comes into the MSN account, I get
Outlook's nifty new mail notification, as well as the new mail notice
integration to Windows XP.

But... The messages coming into my Hotmail folder in Outlook don't do this.
I never know if I've got new email unless I look in the Hotmail inbox, or
check out the folder view .

Am I missing something here, or is the Office team still treating Hotmail
like a red-headed stepchild?

Thanks,

JL

Diane,

Thanks for the prompt reply. I do have the Hotmail account set as
"Default".

In the "Email accounts", it says "Outlook processes email for the accounts
in the following order:"

Hotmail HTTP (Default)
MSN Email POP/SMTP

I'm suspecting that Outlook still doesn't view HTTP accounts as "real". Any
ideas?

Thanks again,

JL

Http accounts are not subject to Outlook's default behaviors, such as new
mail notifications, rules, etc.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, JL asked:
