Hello..

I want to upload a file for some friends that is about 200 mb
I know there is rapidshare and megaupload,
but those are not so easy to use since you have to enter codes or dodge
around banners ( mean for the person who will download, not me).

I was wondering if anyone knows of a similar site that will be clean from
such
nuisances...

and provide a 200 -250 upload
to be hosted for as long as possible...

thanks!

I like http://www.putfwd.com but the storage is limited to 200mb. Otherwise
it sounds close to what you want.

Send the user a URL link. They will see the web page (with ads) and then
select which of various servers to use (to pick one that isn't busy so they
don't have to wait). Unlimited file size, unlimited downloads, unlimited
bandwidth, and you manage what files are in your account rather than hoping
they eventually expire.

You can upload a file to 2GB max. You can upload it and get the URL link to
e-mail to your friend, or fill in their e-mail address to send them an
e-mail with the link (I prefer NOT trusting a 3rd party with my or my
friend's e-mail address, so I just upload and separately e-mail them the URL
link). 25 downloads over a period of 7 days, so it won't stay there
indefinitely, but then the purpose is to e-mail a friend who can click on
the link to get it within the next week. No registration at all. I was
using dropload.com but it has a max file size of 100MB and is the same
service as this one (but with a 20 times file size limit).

FileFront is a managed online storage [free] service so you can keep files
there indefinitely. YouSendIt is a temporary or one-shot service for
getting a file to your friend(s), and there's nothing stopping you from
uploading it again if, say, one of your friends was on a 2-week vacation and
told you the link was dead. Since I'm new to those services, I don't reveal
my e-mail address when registering or sending an e-mail notice with a link
to the file download. I use an alias (see Sneakemail.com). If I get no
spam to those aliases after 3 to 6 months then I'll trust them.

Just beware of services like YouSendit or Dropload. Their e-mails may end
up in the Junk folder (i.e., they get detected as spam) because their HTML
coding is too spammy or they include ad links in the e-mail. So you might
want to send [a copy] to yourself and then e-mail the link alone to your
friend. With YouSendIt, they will show you a page with the link, so you
don't even have to send an e-mail and can just copy the link to then e-mail
yourself to your friend. Also, rather than starting an HTTP download
immediately, their links take you to their download web page and it has ads.
Ads are the cost of using their free service. They really should have an
option to "Send as plain-text" since not all recipients can read
HTML-formatted e-mails (or they have optioned their e-mail client to read in
plain-text mode), plus it would probably help to get past spam filters.

YouSendIt has already been mentioned and I think it would meet your needs.

However, I recently came across Pando, which I posted earlier. I've not
tried it, but unlike the other suggestions it is a downloadable program.

<quote> Pando lets you send your home videos, giant presentations and entire
folders of original quality photos to anyone with an email address. </quote>
