Could someone please help. Until today I was able to be on my laptop (windows
xp home) and could see the shared folders on my desktop (windows xp pro).
Today when i tried accessing them, I wasn't able to view so i was just going
to delete them and try and get it to work again. I have read many forums and
still not able to figure it out. Could someone please assist me? My laptop is
hooked directly to a router and same with my desktop. Please help. Thanks

The cause of this problem would be frequently be a misconfigured or overlooked
personal firewall, or other security component. There are several other
possibilities too, and any might be the cause of your problem. Read this article
with an open mind.

For more direct help, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):

On the laptop, try accessing the desktop directly, by typing the
desktop's computer name in the Start | Run box in this format:

\\name

Make sure that a firewall program on the desktop isn't blocking
access.
