Hello all,

One of my clients is experiencing an issue with
downloading with IE. It is quite odd, and I have never
experienced or heard of this issue. Let me explain in a
little more detail...

When a "download now" button is clicked (on any and every
web site (i.e. www.hp.com)), IE sort of pauses for
several seconds (on a broadband connection); the
windows "flag" on the upper right-hand corner "waves";
and the page turns blank. Nothing besides that happens.
Nothing is downloading in the background, and nothing is
ever installed.

If any of you could give me any hints as to what may be
the issue, I, and my client especially, would greatly
appreciate it!

Here's the fix, courtesy of Alan Edwards, MVP:

If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303401

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
(QuickTime by the looks of it and if so, I believe they have a fix)
The key does not normally exist.
