not able to access attachments and greeting cards

I purchased my computer in June and cannot access
attachments and greeting cards. I have gone to tools and
security but hesitate to change any settings. I would
appreciate help from your expertise. Thanks in advance
 
Hi Claire,

Assuming you are using Outlook Express, click tools/options/Secutiry tab and
uncheck the option to "do not allow attachments to be saved...". Click
apply/ok. Just be cautious with attachments, do not open any you don't
expect from someone.

XP defaults to this blocking of attachments. So, to see attachments, the
"Do not allow..." item has to be unmarked in order to open. I employ the
following steps:
1) Any mail from unknown people with attachments is automatically deleted.
2) Mail from known people which have forwarded messages with attachments
are saved to disk for virus scan. You should be prompted to do this when
clicking on the attachment in an OE message.
