Not a New User, but a New version of Outlook, can't send e-mail

I received an Evaluation copy of Office 2003 from a Microsoft Launch Event in my area. I installed it and was impressed when it picked up all the account information, personal folders, and rules from the previous version (Office 2003 Beta, uninstalled). Howver, the New, Reply, Reply All, and Forward buttons are inactive. As is Options. No error messages, just no funcationality. I activated the software. Now I'm wondering why Microsoft would put out an Evaluation copy that a user could not evaluate.

Is there any way to make this thing work?

The eval versions have expired. Check out this page for more info:

did you activate it? It's in reduced functionality mode until it's
activated.

The Beta copy expired. The Evaluation kit didn't have an expiration day, just a 120-day limit.

But I found the fix myself. Close and reopen. Funny, none of the seven or so people I talked to at Microsoft could figure that one out and I don't remember seeing it on the activation dialogue box.

Thanks

I did activate it. What I didn't do was close it and reopen it. But I don't remember being told to. Figured that out on accident.

<g> that's good to know for next time someone asks. Based on the number of
times the problem comes up, I don't think it says to close and reopen.

Is it so hard to read the message you're replying to?
