Norton Protection toolbar missing in IE 7

I got it to show on my laptop but I tried everything to get it to show up on
my main PC and it didn't work.

I have NIS 2007, which is supposed to change the Norton Anti-Virus Toolbar
to the Norton Protection Center Toolbar, but even though it's lists in the
toolbar section, it can't be checked. I'm able to do that on my laptop, which
also has IE 7 but runs Windows XP Home instead of Pro for my main.

Any help would be appriciated.

Contact Symantec tech support, and check around in the posts in the internet
explorer newsgroup were IE7 questions are posted.

IMO you're better off without NIS. It's bloated, resource heavy and can
cause problems sooner or later. There are other, less resource intensive
better running programs to perform the functions NIS does, some of the for
free.

I have a vague memory of reading something that said NAV 2007 isn't
compatible with IE7. Since I don't use any Norton products, I don't know
this for certain. Your best bet is to post your question in the IE7
newsgroup *after* you spend some time reading through the posts there. The
IE7 newsgroup is:

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

There are a huge number of posts so it would be smart to start by going to
Google Groups Advanced Search. Use a search term that describes your
problem, constrain the search to the IE7 newsgroup and the date to very
recently. You can also check MVP Sandi Hardmeier's canonical IE7 site.
Sandi has workarounds, known issues, troubleshooting, and links. This may
be the only site you need.
