Norton Internet Security 2004 Windows XP

I am at my wits end with NIS 2004. I've received error 1722 multiple times and have installed and un-installed NIS 2004 many times over. In addition, I've been to the Norton Support center, deleted all my temp files, and removed the corrupted .mis files. Since I have XP, I can't download a new version of MIS for my computer. My system restore wasn't turned on, so I can't turn back the clock a couple of weeks to fix it that way. In addition, even though I can get on the internet from my computer, I can't get to most sites that have any kind of form to fill out, or most sites that require a password. Help!!!!
 
Did you look up the error on the Norton's site?

Yup, I went to Norton. And then I went to Microsoft. And then I went to Toshiba. No one seems to be able to tell me how to correct the problem with my Installer package. You can't download it from the Microsoft site because it's built into the XP program. I don't know how to fix it! But, the Norton people have told me that if I can fix the Installer, Norton will work fine. Any ideas?

Hi Vexed,

Besides Kaylene's advice, try this:

Windows Installer error
Go to Start/Run and type: regsvr32 msi.dll
then
Go to Start/Run and type
SFC /SCANNOW
Make sure you have your WinXP CD in the CD Drive before executing the
SFC
command.

just wanted to know if u solved your problem, coz unfortunately im having the same problems as your computers giving u , wid erorr1722 uniinstalled it but as trying to install norton internet security 2004 adn so cnt install it, also cant get in some websites that require a passwords . pls help me as its drivin me nuts! thank you, pls help
