It's a bug with Norton AntiVirus. It could mean that the NAV menu group
has been deleted or moved from its place on the All Programs list. Check
at www.symantec.com

if you look on the symantec website there is lots of help with this problem,
its a known issue and they have various fixes for it, hope you sort it.

Hi, Will!

If you are allowed to download and install other anti virus
software,

you can go to

www.download.com

And download AVAST4 or AVG or Kasperski

for FREE.

Any or all is SUPERIOR to Norton, and -- unlike Norton-- you
don't have to pay for any of them.

I tried Kasperski, I tried AVG, and I tried AVAST4, and I
finally settled on AVAST4. I haven't had a virus since I
downloaded/installed AVAST4 about a year ago.

There is also nothing wrong with having more than one Anti
Virus program running at the same time.

Also be sure you are running AdAware Pro (free) and SpyBot
Search and Destroy 1.4.

Both of these excellent programs is ALSO on

www.download.com

and are FREE.

And be sure to check back if you have any other problems.

Some of us like few things better than helping kids!

The times my son (a teenager) has asked for help-- and I was
able to help him-- were MOST gratifying.

:-)

(by the way, I have a brother whose name is "Will", and
we're English, too)

Good luck!

No, having two AntiVirus Real-Time scanners is not advised.
And it is spelled Kaspersky. As to downloads for AV, it is
better to get them directly from the vendor's website.

Most problems with Symantec products can be solved by reinstalling, but
you often need to go to the Symantec web site for help. (Norton
Internet Security is a Symantec product.) The web site can give you
precise, step-by-step instructions to remove the offending product and
reinstall it properly. Make sure you print out the instructions before
you start.

When you finally get NIS off your computer, how do you plan to protect
it? You need a firewall (Windows has one built in), and some kind of
antivirus program. Norton Antivirus is actually very good, but I like
the standalone versions better. I don't use Norton Internet Security on
my computer.

I've had this a few times, mainly after fooling around with the pc and doing
things I shouldn't, lol. Basically it means that one or more of your Norton
files are either damaged, or have been deleted. The easiest way to sort
this out ( in Windows XP SP2 ) is to go to Start| Control Panel | Add or
Remove Programs. Click on Norton Anti Virus 2005, then click on 'Remove'.
This will uninstal the program. Then, go back to your Norton NAV05ENG.exe
desktop icon, and double click on it to commence the reinstallation. See
how you get on.

Was that his question??????
