How do i find a patch to the problem of microsoft word
automatically saving a document as normal when not
shutting down properly? I already know to delete all
normal documents in a search on the c: drive. Need
something more permanant, where I can save my default
document!

G'day "(e-mail address removed)" <[email protected]>,

Create a template, then always use File > New > MyTemplate to create a
document.

We've had numerous reports of others encountering this issue so far we haven't been able to determine the exact cause since none of us has encountered it and we haven't found anyone who is willing to help us troubleshoot it.

I would *love* to find the reason and could use your help since you are the first to supply us with the fact it happens when Word doesn't shut down properly.

In order to help determine the exact cause, can you supply use with the following?

- What version of Word are you using?
- What patches are installed?
- Did Word come installed as part of Works Suite?
- Go to Tools/Templates and Add-ins. If any add-ins are listed, please provide the names.
- How are you shutting down Word?
- Does it crash when you shut down? If so what is the error message?
- Any additional details you think may be helpful.

Thanks!
