None of the restore points RESTORE

I have an issue with an intermittent problem that my XP
Pro software won't boot (power off and power on and it
will boot within three or four tries -- sometimes it will
go for three consective days with good boots, though). I
was advised to try System Restore (which I often use on
my daughter's PC). However, each of the restore points I
tried resulted in something like "your computer could not
be restored to the restore point because nothing on your
computer has changed" The restore points go back to
March 7.

Thoughts on either problem?

System restore is not really perfected just yet. Disable it, reboot, the
re-enable it and it _should_ start working correctly again. It's also
nice to use another util to backup the registry for future use in
restoreing it.
