"Non-Hierarchical" Grouping for count function in report

Sorry - I have no idea how to phrase this so I'll try to get enough details
to get my question across... Currently I have three reports set up, each
displays the count of incoming calls made 1) by caller department 2) by type
of inquiry 3) by call recipient (i.e. each call has entries for all of these
fields). I would love to put this info on a single report, but I know once I
add a second grouping level to a report the "usual" count feature (from help
topics) gets wacky doing group-within-group counting and ultimately gives the
wrong footer totals. Anyone have any ideas on how to work around this? I'll
be happy to supply further details as needed. Thanks.

Subreports generally work well. Also, create running sum text boxes in group
headers and then referencing these text boxes in outer group footers or the
report footer.

This news group is full of answers to similar questions. You might want to
search on "running sum".
