Non-booting XP CD

I've been trying to clean install XP from the full version CD.
The CD is new and the Samsung 352B combo player is new,but the XP CD
refuses to boot.

When the computer boots up, there is never the option to press any key
to boot from CD.

I have run the 6 set-up floppies successfully but at the end there is a
message stating that the process cannot continue as the CD player cannot
be found and there is no CD driver.
On all other occasions the CD/DVD player functions perfectly

Any advice,please.

Hi,

Have you checked your BIOS to see if the boot from CD option is enabled? And
if the computer is set to boot from CD before the hard drive?
You can get into the BIOS by pressing the del, or F1 or F10 or F8 buttons
depending on your motherboard.
Check your motherboard for the exact keystroke to get into the BIOS.

He did say the CD was working otherwise.
