Darren

or so it seems

i have windows xp home edition

i have an admin account for myself and non admin accounts
for my girlfriend and kids but whenever they try to run
IE from their accounts, it produces the DNS ERROR page

what do i need to do in order that they can use IE from
within their accounts?

thanks

darren

sounds exactly like my problem too...it used to work fine
before...would love to know what caused it and how to fix

Steve,

While logged on to the Limited user account, go to Control Panel, Internet
Options (or Tools, Internet Options in IE). Go to the Connections tab and
click the LAN Settings button. See if the setting for Use a Proxy server
is checked. If so, uncheck it.

If you're on dial up, you may need to check the dial up connection
properties, as well, since they can have independent proxy server settings.

thanks for the reply doug

i followed your suggestion but all the the users IE's
have the Use A Proxy Server check box unchecked and
always have had.

i really am at a loss about this - could you suggest
anything else?

we have cable access - if that makes a difference

thank you

darren

The fact that you're on cable makes it even stranger, Darren. I'll continue
looking into this.
