Hello

Can somebody enlighten me why is this guy (NobodyMan) allowed to post on MS
Newsgroups? He doesn't answer any questions; he is very good at
insulting people and putting people down. I checked all his messages
for the past two weeks or so and there is nowhere I can see he has
answered a single question.

Why does he waste his valuable time on these newsgroups? Surely, he has
better things to do than just wind people up!

Where are the Newsgroup moderators? they nedd to visit the NG from time to time.

There are no NewsGroup moderators of this Group - there are some servers
that have group moderators - such as the Microsoft Usenet servers proper
- they have a "moderator" that enforces their standards and AUP, but it
only applies to the Microsoft Usenet Server.

When you use World.com or fubar.com as your Usenet server, they are not
bound my Microsoft to do anything, in fact, if Microsoft stopped hosting
a Usenet server you would still see articles as the server you are on
Carries the group and replicates with it's partner(s).

So, what this means is that anyone can post from any Usenet server as
long as they obey the rules of their provider.

There are a number of people that act the way you describe, then there
are people that post bugus info just to screw with people, then there
are the Trolls, and last there are the people that are Super-Trolls that
like to mess with anyone that mentions their name or a subject, but they
are better at it than your average Troll. The proper method is to either
document their actions and send them to the Abuse contact at their
provider or to ignore them and never reply to them (which most people
can't do).

There really aren't any except for spam. Remember your mommy doesn't come
here more than likely. You have to fend for yourself.

A quote from the MS News Group administrator...

"Microsoft does not block people from posting to the newsgroups hosted on
msnews.microsoft.com for any reason other than violations of the Terms of
Use (http://www.microsoft.com/info/cpyright.mspx) or the Rules of Conduct
(http://www.microsoft.com/communities/conduct/default.mspx). There are no
official moderators of the newsgroups hosted on msnews.microsoft.com (in
either the traditional Usenet sense or in the more recent web forum
parlance) however we regularly review complaints sent using the Contact Us
link (http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=2028320).

While I welcome people to contact me directly, I can not guarantee personal
responses to any mails.

Ah, did somebody's feelings get hurt? You come into the adult world,
you need to learn to play the game.

For the record, I do help when help is warranted. However, most of us
get fed up seeing the same questions asked over and over and over and
over and over and over and over and over.....you get the idea. People
need to learn to actually search and read before asking the same
question that was already asked 15 times within the last three hours.

Also, we get tired of seeing posts that have nothing to do with the
topic at hand.

Yes, I'm more brusque than others. I'm not subtle. Polite pointers
don't seem to work in modern society as well as slaps to faces. If
you don't like that and don't want to deal with it, you don't have to
read my posts - killfile them if you want. Better yet, you could grow
thicker skin and move on.

Yea, I just don't have time to play with him for a couple weeks and he
gets grumpy when people don't play with him :)

Excuse me. Couldn't help but look in here. Glad I did. Maybe get some answers
- though no doubt be told to bug off and start another thread.

Indubitably 'NobodyMan' is right on target with his reply. But then, I've
also noted, that a few parties here in these newsgroups can't or won't make a
relevant comment on even simple questions (for them) posted here by novices
(which is close to what I am, obviously) - and in those cases prefer to
respond with a negative remark.

The problem is that sometimes you just can't get the right keyword for a
successful search or else there's something wrong. There were several
occasions in my own case, for instances, where I clicked on a link in my
hotmail (there because of "Notify me of replies") that brought me back to the
correct newsgroup but with my own
message nowhere in sight on the message page. For a moment, I was completely
lost and thought the official link took me to the wrong place.

Entering different keywords from my message title, several times, in
'Search', didn't help. Finally, had to enter the entire title string to find
it. I can see maybe 'one' error - but if you read closely here, you will note
there are at least two involved. So how can one expect to find answers via
search when one can't even quickly find one's own message. Not saying this
happens all the time - but it does happen and I have no idea why.

Then there are some experts who reply primarily in terms of links instead of
requested step-by-step procedures that newbies can cope with. Some of those
'links' can be a bit to technical, intimidating and overwhelming for some of
us - leading to the same questions being asked over and over again. Not to
say we don't appreciate the reasons for brevity - which are the overwhelming
no. of questions and the valuable time sacrificed by a limited number of
experts on the subject.

Well, I've said to much already here. Will post my querry in another thread:

"Can't Download MS Updates" (because keep losing connection and there
appears to be no "resume" function at MS Update downloads).

I doubt I'll find a wholly applicable solution to this via search for
previous threads, etc. - but I will try, as usual. In meanwhile maybe some
visitor or one of you gents
will see my thread and have the time to suggest some possible solutions.

Thanx for your ears,

Ted...
