sometimes I get the full slide when I print a slide/note page in Grayscale or
B&W ... but sometimes I don't! the template's image does not print. I just
get the objects I've added / inserted on the slide.

on some powerpoint files I get a full gray/b&W print on some I don't!

Why? what am I missing?? I can take slides from one presentation that
prints well and insert them into a new pp file and the template image doesn't
print?!!!!!!!!!

In the print setup when you choose B/W the background image is not printed
by default. But if the background is actually a placed image, it is not a
true background that PPT can surpress printing (because it is a placed
object, just covering the full slide). Perhaps this is what you are
experiencing?

I think we are on the same page re this problem. I have a presentation that
WILL print the template background in both gray scale and B&W print mode. on
this presentation the template "textured.dot" is used. I have copied this
presentation with different dates in the name as I've made changes /
additions. In all copies I AM able to print in both the gray scale and B&W
mode with the template showing. HOWEVER

sorry but hit the wrong key and message was posted prior completion

I think we are on the same page re this problem. I have a presentation that
WILL print the template background in both gray scale and B&W print mode. on
this presentation the template "textured.dot" is used. I have copied this
presentation with different dates in the name as I've made changes /
additions. In all copies I AM able to print in both the gray scale and B&W
mode with the template showing. During changes / making new versions of
this presentation, I have copied / pasted slides to a new presentation file
for throw outs / replacement slildes. In this power point file, the same
slides will not print with the textured background in either gray scale or
b&w.

the key word in your reply to me is "default" ... in one power point file
this default of not printing the template background has been changed and on
another the default has not been.

how was this default changed!? how can I change in on my trow
outs/replacement file???
