no start with battery

Hi Everybody,
my windows starts only if i plug may laptop into the
current supply. In more details: switching on only with
the battery, windows seems to start and hang after few
seconds before the login screen. My linux partition works
perfectly, so, I excluded battery failure.

I'm not so sure that would rule out the battery? OS's have
differing processor loadings during start ups. Can you get
another battery to test? I've seen that happen on a
client's machine that had DOS 6.2x and one of the early XP's
on it. Changed batt, all was fine. "Course, that's only
one empiracal result, so ...
