Paula, go to Control Panel>Sound and Audio Devices>Look under each
Heading ( Sound, Volume, Hardware etc) and
if you see greyed out or yellow marks next to audio devices in
Hardware or anything else that looks not right. Post back
here with what you found and the name of your Audio Device. You could
find that in Start>All Programs>Accessories>
System Tools>System Information>Components>Sound Devices. Look at
first two lines in rt pane. It should tell you
what audio device you have. Don't use the recovery disk unless you
want to start over completely

Hi Rich Barry

Have done as you send, bit of a long rely,......sorry
First one... Volume..... no sound device......Audio.......All 3 (sound

Hardware..... Realtek AC'97 Audio properties.....message said... windows can

Hi PaulaJane
I hope you have the sound problem solved by now. If not, go here and
download and install the latest Realtek driver
http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/ac97.html

I have tried everything mentioned and nothing works. Went to the site recommended, did the scan and now they want me to buy the product. I thought it wa free? id I go to the wrong one? Am looking for" Realtek C97 Audio"? thanks in advance.

I went to System Information and under "problem devices" it says Multimedia
Audio Controller (then a bunch of letters and numbers). This device is not
--- I assume it would say not working or not connected. Now what?

I have the same problem. Now what?
